A Historic Success After Twenty Years: Unlawful State Decision Confirmed

AThe team, consisting of Tomáš Sequens and Petra Mirovská, achieved a significant victory in a complex legal dispute over compensation for damages against the state after a long twenty years of legal battles. The case concerned an unlawful decision and administrative misconduct by the Ministry of the Environment during a licensing procedure conducted in 2005.

Webinar “The Future of Batteries in the EU” for the Czech Battery Cluster.

On 22 October 2024, KSB attorneys Tomáš Sequens and Petra Mirovská, in cooperation with the REMA Battery collection system, delivered an expert webinar for the Czech Battery Cluster (Český bateriový klastr, z.s.), which brings together major players in the battery industry. Participants of the webinar, which was entitled "The future of batteries in the EU: digital passport, new standards and responsibility", were introduced to new developments in European battery legislation, in particular the obligations associated with the creation of a digital passport for batteries, new standards for battery eco-design and performance, as well as producer responsibility issues, including the concept of "second-life" batteries and battery recycling.

Successful Complaint to the European Commission against the Czech Republic and EKO-KOM Concerning Packaging Waste

KSB, on behalf of its client REMA AOS, has successfully brought a complaint to the European Commission to investigate whether the Czech Republic, acting through the Ministry of the Environment, violated its obligations under EU law by creating an anti-competitive environment in the packaging sector in favour of EKO-KOM.

KŠB Successfully Assists REMA System in Obtaining Authorization to Operate Collection System for Electrical Equipment

KŠB’s team led by Tomáš Sequens and Petra Mirovská was successful in assisting our long-standing client REMA Systém, a.s. with obtaining authorization from the Ministry of the Environment to operate a collection system for ensuring the obligations of manufacturers of electrical equipment under the new End-of-Life Products Act for all groups of electrical equipment, including solar panels, for which it previously did not have authorization.
