What sets us apart as your trusted legal partner?

Our hats have been in the legal arena for 35 years and we are one of the few Czech law firms that remain independent. Today, our team consists of more than 70 legal and tax specialists who operate in three cities – Prague, Ostrava and KarlovyVary – so we can be as close to our clients as possible.

All this makes us one of the oldest and largest law firms in the Czech Republic.

Our office is based on three key values:

The expertise we bring in both traditional areas of law and in specialized areas.

Creativity – we seek original and innovative solutions to our clients' needs.

Freedom, which we offer both in our firm’s culture (we do not believe in dress codes or needless bureaucracy) and in our approach to solving cases.

We may be traditional in our long history, but we are decidedly not traditional in our approach. Since the very beginning, we've been blazing trails in law where no one has gone before, and to this day we still deliver solutions that provide clear added value to our clients. We have always been pioneers and remain so today.

1980s
The original origins of our office lie not in Karlovy Vary, or perhaps even Prague, but in Sokolov. This is where Alexandr Kocián, Martin Šolc and Mikuláš Touška met in a law firm, while Jiří Balaštík was practicing law in a Prague public law office.
1990
Alexandr Kocián, Martin Šolc and Mikuláš Touška found "Kocián Šolc Touška" (KŠT), based in Karlovy Vary.
1991
We assist in the first major acquisition in post-revolutionary Czechoslovakia in the purchase of a national flat glass manufacturer by Belgian companyGlaverbel.
1992
We open KŠT’s Prague branch in Jindřišská Street.
1994
Martin Šolc serves as the President of the Czech Bar Association.
1995
Mikuláš Touška leaves KŠT and becomes the first Czech partner at A&O. Since then, our law firm has operated under the name Kocián Šolc Balaštík.

Our services are complemented by a tax department, which soon becomes one of the most respected in the Czech Republic under the leadership of Helena Navratilová.

Since 1995, we have organized an annual benefit concert for the Committee of Good Will – Olga Havel Foundation.
2002
We are a founding member of the World Services Group (WSG), a leading global network of independent law firms. WSG brings together more than 120 major firms operating in over 150 jurisdictions with more than 23,000 professionals worldwide.
2003
In cooperation with Polish law firm Wardyński & Partners and Slovak law firm Čechová & Partners, we establish an office in Brussels to serve clients in representation before EU courts and authorities after the Czech Republic's accession to the EU, which remained open until 2009.
2004
Our Prague office moves to Jungmannova Plaza, where we are still based today.
2006
We assist in the first spin-off of a business company – specifically, this was a project carried out within PPF Group, where a new company, Home Credit Grand Holding, was incorporated by spinning off part of Česká pojišt'ovna’s assets.

KŠB establishes itself as a top Czech law firm. This is evidenced by KŠB’s being named Law Firm of the Year 2006 by London-based rating institution Law Business Research (we have since won the award three more times).
2008
Assistance to the Heineken Group with the implementation of the squeeze-out of STAROBRNO. This is the first squeeze-out conducted under the new legal framework, which no longer requires the approval of the Czech National Bank.

We are awarded the "Czech Law Firm of the Year" by British rating company Chambers and Partners, which we have since won three more times.
2009
We open a branch office in Ostrava.

A team of experienced lecturers, led by Professor Jan Dědič, offers expert seminars, lectures and workshops on current legal topics.

Dagmar Dubecká becomes the new managing partner, replacing one of KŠB's founders, Martin Šolc.
2015
KŠB wins the European Competition Case of the Year at The Lawyer European Awards 2015 for representing DELTA PEKÁRNY before the European Court of Human Rights in a case concerning the unlawful intervention of the Czech Competition Authority at the company's headquarters.

We provide innovative advice to O2 Czech Republic on a demerger which led to the creation of a new company, Česká telekomunikační infrastruktura (CETIN). This unique project involved maintaining O2's shareholding structure and transferring its extensive infrastructure to CETIN, making O2 the exclusive service provider and CETIN the telecommunications network manager.
2016
Martin Šolc achieves unprecedented success in the field of global advocacy. He is elected President of the International Bar Association (IBA) in Washington, D.C., and for a two-year term (2017-2018) becomes the first-ever representative from Central and Eastern Europe at the head of the world's largest lawyer organization.
2019
As of September 2019, we expanded our existing premises with a new client floor located on the 6th floor of Jungmannova Plaza.

2025
We celebrate our 35th anniversary and introduce a new visual identity and strategy that fully reflects our team, values, past and future vision.

It's all encapsulated in our new motto: "Finding innovative solutions is our tradition."

Here comes the new KŠB –still traditional in values, innovative in approach, but in a fresh, modernlook.

Our brand

To mark our 35thanniversary, we unveiled a new visual identity and strategy that fully reflects our team, values, past and vision for the future. All of this is encapsulated in our new motto: " Finding innovative solutions is our tradition."

Based on our motto, our new visual identity carries a remnant of our old logo that was in the form of a cube that reflects the original values. It also incorporates the names of our founders. How? With the help of lines, which actually make up the whole identity. Notice how they're different lengths, like the names of our founders.

So why did we change the identity in the first place? Just as there have been many changes in the field of law over the past 35 years, we've also moved forward and kept up with the times. But our communications have not reflected this outward progress. And so comes the new KŠB - still traditional in values, innovative inapproach, but in a fresh, modern look.
