KSB updates Polish businessmen on legislative changes

Lecturers at the workshop included Jiří Horník, Viktor Zelinka, and Darina Kovačíková, all attorneys at KSB, and Jan Černohouz, a KSB tax advisor. Mirella Lechna and Michal Nowacki of the high profile Polish law firm Wardyński & Partners also delivered news on Polish legal and tax aspects.
The Polish attendees at the workshop were again most interested in issues related to cross-border employment and employee secondment. “Attention was paid primarily to the amendment to the Czech Labour Code, changes in the duties of employers regarding employment-related healthcare issues, as well as the new rules and restrictions applicable to illegal employment and the substantially increased penalties for illegal employment,” noted Viktor Zelinka.
Jan Černohouz provided information on the tax, social security, and health insurance issues that came into effect at the beginning of this year and answered questions regarding, among other things, VAT, consignment warehouses, and fees paid to statutory body and supervisory board members.
Darina Kovačíková summarized the changes in Czech legislation effective as of the beginning of this year. “The businessmen were mainly interested in the new Corporation Criminal Liability Act and the sectional changes to the Commercial Code, such as parallel offices of a company statutory body and manager and the abolished ban on damages waived before a commitment is breached” said Ms. Kovačíková.
The end of the workshop, which was dedicated to the Public Contracts Act, gave the attendees the opportunity to hear a presentation delivered by Jiří Horník on the practical impacts of the April amendment to the Act.
